A mailbox may be used by a person, team or project. The part before @ is not necessarily an owner’s name. Consider the contact’s stated purpose where the source explains it.
Preserve the address
Do not substitute a domain or remove characters on an assumption. Similar addresses may represent different mailboxes. Compare the complete string with its source before choosing an email query.
Check returned associations
An email listed beside a profile needs context about when and where it appeared. An old contact does not establish current account control. Search information is not a way to access a mailbox.
